I moved close to the Beach a couple of years ago and immediately understood that things were different here. The people who live here are very aware of the area’s history and devoted to keeping things just so. I was thrilled, then, to be able to proofread this book and learn about my new community, as well as Toronto’s other lakeside communities: the Scarborough shore, the Toronto Islands, and the Lakeshore, where I spent many childhood summers. Written by Jane Fairburn, Along the Shore is published by ECW Press. It was shortlisted for the 2013 Speaker’s Book Award.
